It’s still a bit chilly outside, but the Small Wonders studio is warming up with spring babies this April. Baby Michael in the photo below, was all smiles–and a few scrunchy faces for his 1st birthday photos. Baby blue and green are his colors, dontcha think?

Craig and DaMel say their vows with the beautiful Caribbean as the backdrop
For those of you who haven’t heard, Quinn and I traveled to the beautiful Riviera Maya in Mexico to capture the wedding images of DaMel Howard and Craig Smith. DaMel and Craig, owners of Salon Luce invited us to join them for their destination wedding, and we were thrilled to have this wonderful opportunity.
Let me just say that the blue waters, 85 degree temperatures and white sands were a wonderful way to kick off December! And let me also say that DaMel and Craig are without a doubt, the most romantic couple Small Wonders has ever photographed–the images speak for themselves! Congratulations again, to this lovely couple, may they have a long and happy life together.

Can you tell that we are new to the blogging world since my last post was a month ago?! Totally unacceptable! We are having a very busy Fall season, but realized we needed to slow down and post some more of our favorite photos. Here are a few…

A modern take on the Victorian postcard, thanks to the beautiful bow in this little girl’s hair.

Tween siblings Hunter and Taylor had a fun photo shoot with Quinn this Spring. After some good-natured ribbing, jumping on mini-trampolines in front of the Figge and hiking around downtown Davenport for their photo shoot–they were ready for the big time! Quinn and I want to recommend the “Urban Kids” session to families whose kids are in the “in between” age group–not quite teens, but not “little kids” anymore. Call us for details at 563-324-0237.

Whatever happened to those endless summers of our childhoods? For those of us with kids in year-round school, summer officially ends this coming Monday. Quinn and I remember our childhood summers in a magical way–long days at the pool, peeling sunburns before spf 50 sunscreen, drive-in movies (yes, I am old enough to have seen Grease at the drive-in when I was a kid), plenty of time for kick-the-can and flashlight tag. Yes, we actually ran around the neighborhood in the pitch dark! So it is our quest as parents to give our son a little bit of that magic. Here are some pics from our not-so-endless summer!

Water sliding in Evansville, IN, near Q’s parents’ house.

On the ferris wheel at the RI County Fair.

Our son had his face painted at the St. Louis zoo…and took his first trip to the arch as “El Tigre”.

Shades of things to come…no motorcycles until you’re 35.
Quinn is pretty sure he rode this ride back in the 70′s…this exact model, rusty chains and all. He was slightly barfy afterward; our son ate a corndog.

Here are some images from a recent wedding Saturday in June. I used to work with Meredith’s mom, and heard all about her before meeting her. She is as smart and beautiful as her mom always said! Congratulations to the happy couple.

A little rain made a beautiful sunset for Meredith and Ryan at the Davenport Country Club.

Did I mention that Meredith is really photogenic too?

Quinn was diggin’ the cool 80′s Jag that the couple drove away in…

These two love birds are going to be married early next year in sunny Mexico. Quinn wanted to do some cool, moody shots downtown with them. They were so fun to work with and such a beautiful couple.

Hi everyone: Just wanted to give you directions to Portraits in the Park at Lincoln Park in Rock Island. The park is just off 38th street on the East side of Augustana College. Here are the directions from the Iowa side. Illinoisans, please give us a call and we’ll direct you.
From I-74, take the River Drive exit into Moline–take a left turn at the bottom of the exit. You will pass by WaterMark Corners, The Mark, etc. Continue straight into Rock Island, until the road veers toward the left over the railroad tracks. Continue straight to the light. You will be at the bottom of 44th street. You’ll go through another set of lights at 7th ave. and 44th. Continue straight up 44th st. hill. At the top there is a 4-way stop. Take a right onto 14th ave. You’ll pass several bars/restaurants including Harris Pizza. At the light (14th ave. and 38th street), take a right. Go a couple blocks and you’ll see the park on the right. Do not park in the first lot by the basketball and volleyball courts, instead, continue straight and you’ll go down a short hill and will see another lot on the left, Alleman High School is right across from it. Park there and you’ll see one of us and a sign. If you have any questions, or are coming a different direction, just let us know! Also, here’s Quinn’s cell number 563-349-1664.
p.s. Here’s a link with a small map. http://www.rigov.org/citydepartments/parks/lincolnpark.html
Keep your fingers crossed for good weather!! You will get a call from us Saturday a.m. if the weather looks threatening.
