Senior Season

October 6, 2009 - One Response

Corrine, Nick and Collin were our three latest senior sessions. All three are very nice young people with bright futures ahead of them. And Cori, I hate to embarrass you, but I remember you toddling around in diapers. Cori’s Dad, Mom and I worked together many moons ago when WE were the young ones:) Thanks for having your lovely daughter photographed by Small Wonders!

Where the Wild Things Are…

September 29, 2009 - 2 Responses

We were excited to have Tom  and Colleen Stalf and their staff from Niabi stop in last week to do a  short session with some beautiful animals from the Columbus, OH zoo. Tom and Jack Hanna were doing a special tour with a cheetah, clouded leopard, and snow leopard. They even let us get in the act…although Quinn now knows not to establish eye contact with the snow leopard! He got a major “hiss”. The handler told us the leopard has a long memory, and would remember him next time–ha!  All in all a wonderful experience! Our thanks to Tom and his crew. IMG_2312IMG_2492IMG_2400

Kari was the perfect subject for  late summer photography at Crow Creek Park .  These photos  capture  the mood of the August day, and Kari as she  begins her final year of high school. We wish her the best. ..IMG_2125IMG_2138

This couple did a cool metallic print of Mom’s baby bump. The new addition to their household should be here any moment. Congrats to the happy family:)

Early Fall? Take more photos:)

Our dog is in the twilight of his life, although you’d never know it from this pic! I told Quinn he needed to get more photos of him with our son. Here’s a Saturday on the porch.  Four canvases from this series will be in our son’s bedroom so he’ll always remember Barley.

We love the “pocket park” right down the street from our studio . It’s especially pretty this time of the year, but soon all the greens will turn to yellow, red and brown. All the better for us! This family couldn’t have looked cuter.  The vests on the boys, Mom’s  bare feet. Dad in the suit.  Makes the end of summer seem o.k.

Directions to Portraits in the Park this Saturday and Sunday

July 10, 2009 - Leave a Response

IMG_0372Hi everyone: Just wanted to give you directions to Portraits in the Park at Lincoln Park in Rock Island. The park is just off 38th street on the East side of Augustana College. Here are the directions from the Iowa side. Illinoisans, please give us a call and we’ll direct you. From I-74, take the River Drive exit into Moline–take a left turn at the bottom of the exit. You will pass by WaterMark Corners, The Mark, etc. Continue straight into Rock Island, until the road veers toward the left over the railroad tracks. Continue straight to the light. You will be at the bottom of 44th street. You’ll go through another set of lights at 7th ave. and 44th. Continue straight up 44th st. hill. At the top there is a 4-way stop. Take a right onto 14th ave. You’ll pass several bars/restaurants including Harris Pizza. At the light (14th ave. and 38th street), take a right. Go a couple blocks and you’ll see the park on the right. Do not park in the first lot by the basketball and volleyball courts, instead, continue straight and you’ll go down a short hill and will see another lot on the left, Alleman High School is right across from it. Park there and you’ll see one of us and a sign. If you have any questions, or are coming a different direction, just let us know! Also, here’s Quinn’s cell number 563-349-1664. p.s. Here’s a link with a small map. http://www.rigov.org/citydepartments/parks/lincolnpark.html Keep your fingers crossed for good weather!! You will get a call from us if the weather looks threatening.

On location with the Browns

Quinn shot these images at Sylvan Island on the Rock Island/Moline border this spring. The Island offers an interesting blend of architecture , nature and the river. And our friends the Browns had a good time running, jumping, splashing in puddles and goofing off together–our kind of family!!

Little Miss Lily is one of Quinn’s favorite subjects to photograph. She looks adorable on our carnation pink backdrop. Quinn added a bit of whimsy with these graphic flourishes.
